Another of those lady costumer blogs

This is #6 of the blogs with five awesome female costumers. Once again I've tried my best to find the pictures via google (so I don't have to feel like a jerk using people's pics) and if I couldn't I just used something from their fan pages. That being said, not all of these ladies actually HAVE fan pages, so I'm doing my best, but I just want to share these ladies with whoever is reading this damn thing.

Happy Holidays btw.

*Kelldar
Kelldar's website

I honestly can't think of a costume this lady hasn't appeared in at one time or another. She's ranged from classic Disney to elegant Renaissance and everywhere in between. This Huntress showing evidence of her excellent comic characters as well, proves that she hasn't crossed anything off her list until she's done it very well. Check out her website and you'll see that this creative and crafty woman just DOES NOT STOP. She's got artwork, costumes and honestly a very nice selection of modeling photos as well. While I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Kelldar in person, I hope she knows that we're all waiting for her next amazing creation.

*Kearstin Nicholson
Kearstin Nicholson's Fanpage

I really only found about about this gal via Facebook, and I was stunned I hadn't seen her before. She's amazing and gorgeous and talented. See also, many other wonderful adjectives. Seeing her pictures and costumes, I'm of the opinion she's actually a superhero by night and she just pulls this stuff out of her hidden closet to confuse people. She's also got some wonderful modeling skills and I think it adds to the character. I'm gonna keep my eye on this one, I'm sure she's got even more up her sleeve.

*Heather

While I've already featured Tally, the one on the left, this is about Heather, the one on the right. There's no question I love this girl and every year I love watching her put together her amazing costumes. Just this past year she pulled of the best femme-Rufio I could imagine! She's a whole lot of fun and a wonderful friend. Thank you Heather for being super awesome!

*Vera Vanguard
Vera's Website

This really isn't the best photo to show off her awesome costumes, but it'll have to do. I first met Vera while engaging in my second Spat Cave contest. At the time she was rocking an awesome school girl Bloodrayne. Having seen her with this Lara Croft, and a Witchblade... it was a given that I really liked her. Her website (as seen above) shows her incredible array of abilities. If you have any other questions, check out her IMDB page. Honestly, there's no stopping this girl and I believe there's nothing she can't accomplish.

*Ana Aesthetic
Ana's Fanpage

This chameleon of a costumer really shows how dynamic one awesome chick can be. My favorite of her costumes is her Steampunk Slave Leia, which is a truly inspired piece of work. From Anime to Comic to Steampunk her costumes are all around fantastic. The details really show her incredible hard work and how well it pays off. If her to-do list is any indication, I'm going to continue to be incredibly happy with her costumes and I truly can't wait to see them all!

Well that's all I have the energy to write about today. Looking at my notes, it looks like I only have two more of these to do before I'm out of ladies I feel comfortable sharing with the world. I know some of my favorite costumers are pretty private people so I don't want to put them out there if they're not into it.
Thanks for reading my stuff and please continue to enjoy the wonderful costuming talents of these amazing women.

Fifth Five (just act like I'm great at alliteration)

Two in one week! Yeah, I just wanted to make sure I didn't drag this out too long. I do want to get everyone featured it just takes a good chunk of time to sit down and link all this stuff. Anyway, showing my love again to those fantastic ladies out there whom I love to cheer on and who give me so much inspiration to be a better costumer myself.

*Kara
Kal and Kara Fan Page
(It's no surprise my fav picture would be done by Bodhi Tree Photography, googled as usual)
There's no question this is one of the most amazing costuming couples EVER. Granted, they're a fantastic duo, but this is about the wonderful lady. Kara is a stupendous costumer. She's in such amazing shape I can't even describe it with real words. Her costuming is always amazing, having rocked such wonderful costumes and always in perfect detail. She's a very big comic fan, most notably of Superman. It only stands to reason that her Supergirl would be the fantastic result it always is. I think my favorite is the Black Canary though, because she looks awesome in fishnets. Whats even better, is that this woman is one of the nicest ladies I've met. She's very supportive and kind and I enjoy seeing her at con every year. Much love to her and her man for everything they do!

*Ms. Mars
Ms. Mars Fan Page
I really couldn't decide which costume to feature, but then I found this awesome collage of Ms. Mars' Molotov Cocktease costume, and I figured it did the trick. This alone shows how excellently she's managed to showcase even a less serious costume as this. There is not an inch of this costume that isn't incredible and she pulls off the character sooooo well. I wish I could post more pictures (but that wouldn't be fair). Really, just check out her fan page. Her range is incredible. From Ariel to Leeloo her costumes are incredible and she rocks them with the best of them. Having never met this wonderful lady, I sometimes feel like a stalker... but that's the point! Come, join me in my creepy costume stalking!

*River Lightning Phoenix
River's Fan Page
NOTE: I couldn't find a good pic in google, so I took this one from her fan page. All credit to that lucky photographer!!!
River is someone who is often a model and sometimes a wonderful costumer. What she has done, though, she's done with panache. She's adorable and sexy and I think her hair is amazing. That's the stalker in me btw, cause I just think she's lovely. If you're a Cosplay Deviants member you have the incredible privilege of viewing her new Pepper Potts set. If you haven't yet, you really should! I can't wait to see what she does next and I'm sure you can't either now!!

*Brittany
Brittany  is a very very good costumer. She's attending an academy of design, and her clothing design has really led her into new levels of costuming. This WOW character shows that very well. She doesn't have a fan page (yet) but if she ever does you know I'll be posting it. Until then I'm sure you can find pic of her awesome She-Ra, Emma Frost, Christine Daae and such on the various convention photo pages. She's all over the place and its often difficult to tell its her... because she's good at transforming into the characters! Wig or no wig she's a very creative and dynamic costumer and I'm so into her transformations! Even cooler than watching Sailor Moon, and I really love Sailor Moon.

*Mara-Belle
Another image I did not google, this is my own of Mara-Belle and I this year at D*con. Her creativity with this Poison Ivy is what makes me always strive to be a bit more creative when fashioning my own costumes. Mara is more a Star Wars fan at heart, but she's managed to reach out into costumes like this and make them amazing as well. She's a wonderful person with an enchanting accent and I can hardly say enough good about her. From her Sydney Jones costume to her gorgeous dresses and Star Wars characters, Mara brings the fun to everything. I've been looking at her future costumes albums and we're all in for a fantastic set of costumes from this amazing lady!

Ok. I need to eat something. I hope everyone has enjoyed this installment of amazing ladies in costume and I can't wait to get the next one up! I always feel like I'm missing so many wonderful female costumers!

Sometimes happiness CAN be bought

I found myself getting excited about the holidays this year. I have to be clear, I technically celebrate Christmas, but not for what its generally accepted to be. My family isn't really into Christmas and I've never really been a Christian. We celebrate the giving of gifts to those we love and we love decorating for this fun holiday time. My mother always loved the extra excuse to make a ton of amazing food and wrap gorgeous presents.
Personally, I am agnostic. I'm not gonna explain it to you, look it up. I have had a hard time enjoying the season for the past ten years though, so I'm very excited to learn that I'm back in the swing of things. I'm very excited this year and have very much enjoyed the music, spectacle and shopping that I've been a part of. I can only say that I'm overwhelmed by this spectacular feeling and I hope I continue to find it again every year.
This is not to take away from the incredible love I still feel for my sister, who died on Christmas Eve day in 1999. Understandably, it was hard for me to experience the joy of the holidays for a while. I miss her so much and this new ability to fully enjoy the season again just makes me love her even more, even after all this time.

In strange honor of this holiday I give you something productive.
I give you: My top five favorite Etsy shops

Buying things for other people makes me happy. Buying them from small shops and individuals from the "artsy" community makes me feel even better. In order for you to feel this special feeling I thought I would help you (and them) out. Go check out these great shops and thank me later.
*Sincere Costumes
-Run (and hand crafted) by my amazing friend, this shop has all the very different and awesome things you wish you had the time (and creativity) to make for your friends and family. I especially note her mustache ornaments.

*Gromidez
-Specializing in "geek" the way it was meant to be... crocheted. You can't tell me your family doesn't need a crocheted blanket of your favorite Mario character.

*Polly925
-She doesn't have a whole lot to choose from, but what she's got is awesome. Geek Chic is always so underrated, so get a piece of this nerd fashion and sport it proudly.

*the Mad Aristocrat
-More cute geeky stuff! They're just so DAMN CUTE.

*Toy Breaker
-For the guys, and gals, who love artsy geeky things and always want to be stylish. I love this stuff so much...

If you've had enough of this mad emotional seasonal rollercoaster, I hope you check out my next blog about the awesome costumers. The fifth one at that.
